Sgt. Maj. Troy E. Black, incoming 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit sergeant major, gives a speech after accepting the noncommissioned officer sword during a relief and appointment ceremony May 16 at the 21 Area Parade Deck on Camp Pendleton, Calif. "I've been through a couple of turnovers and they all have their challenges, there are no challenges here, every effort has been made for success," said Black during his speech. Sgt. Maj. Scott T. Pile, the outgoing sergeant major of the 11th MEU, welcomed Black to his new post as the 11th MEU sergeant major. Pile joined the 11th MEU in May 2010 and will assume the duties as sergeant major of Training and Education Command, Quantico, Va. Black is transitioning from Combat Logistics Battalion 5, Camp Pendleton, Calif.
