Col. Michael Gough, Marine Aircraft Group 13 commanding officer, returns to the Marine Corps Air Station Yuma, Ariz. flightline May 21 after completing his final flight as the Commander of MAG-13. Gough will turn over command of MAG-13 to Col. Chris McPhillips Thurs, May 24 aboard MCAS Yuma. Gough, who took command of MAG-13 in May 2010 and oversaw the build-up and arrival of the F-35B Lightning II to MCAS Yuma, will transfer to Camp Pendleton and serve as the I Marine Expeditionary Force Chief of Staff. Gough previously served in Yuma on three previous occasions as an AV-8B Harrier pilot with Marine Attack Squadron 211 and commander of VMA-311. When asked about his final flight, Gough stated that today's flight was his last close air support sortie with the MAG and his wingman's first marking the next generation of Marine aviators in the Corps. Gough also added that flying with VMA-211 again was very nostalgic after first flying with the Wake Island Avengers over 20 years ago.
