U.S. Naval Station Guantanamo Bay's Command Master Chief Keith Carlson paddles during the Great Cardboard Boat Regatta 2008, May 31, 2008. The regatta is an annual event where competitors from the base and from Joint Task Force Guantanamo attempt to pilot boats made solely out of cardboard, duct tape and paint 200 meters in the open water. JTF Guantanamo conducts safe and humane care and custody of detained enemy combatants. The JTF conducts interrogation operations to collect strategic intelligence in support of the Global War on Terror and supports law enforcement and war crimes investigations. JTF Guantanamo is committed to the safety and security of American service members and civilians working inside its detention facilities.
