Sergeant Phillip Whitener, an assistant platoon sergeant serving with 2nd Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, collected enough donations to fill a U-Haul truck and trailer for the victims of the tornadoes that devastated approximately 2,400 homes in and around Moore, Okla., and Oklahoma City during the week of May 20. Whitener, a native of Polk County, Ark., worked through Memorial Day weekend to gather donations from various families and volunteers.
