William Luckman, center, C Company, 3rd Battalion (Airborne), 509th Infantry Regiment, explains the various components, maintenance, and proper wear of the M40A1 protective mask as the unit prepare to enter the Arctic Nuclear, Biological, and Chemical Chamber, June 17, 2013. The soldiers conducted nuclear, biological, and chemical training which included qualifying with their assigned weapons while wearing the M40A1 mask, personal and early warning equipment use, decontamination procedures, mask maintenance, and completion of the protective mask confidence course.
