Spc. Cristopher Swanson, B Company, 3rd Battalion (Airborne), 509th Infantry Regiment, dons his M40A1 protective mask as the unit conducts nuclear, biological, and chemical training at the Small Arms Complex, June 17, 2013. Qualifying with their assigned weapons while wearing a mask was the first in a group of tasks the soldiers completed, including personal and warning equipment use, decontamination procedures, mask maintenance, and completion of the mask confidence course.
