U.S. Navy Cmdr. James Christie prepares to climb into the front seat of an F/A-18F Super Hornet aircraft aboard the aircraft carrier USS Nimitz (CVN 68) July 4, 2013, in the Persian Gulf. During the sortie, Cmdr. John Depree, in rear seat, assumed command of Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 154 from Christie in a midflight change of command ceremony. The Nimitz Carrier Strike Group was deployed to the U.S. 5th Fleet area of responsibility conducting maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
