    Ed Harrell tells his story of the July 30, 1945 sinking of the USS Indianapolis CA-35 at their 65th reunion in Indianapolis. The ship was sunk after delivering the first operational atomic bomb to the island of Tinnian. Of the 1,196 men aboard only 317 survived and were pulled from the water after the sinking. RADM Rick Williamson, Commander Navy Region Midwest late announced that the next commissioned Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) will be named the USS Indianapolis in their honor.
