RADM Rick Williamson, Navy Region Midwest, speaks to survivors, relatives and friends of the USS Indianapolis CA-35 at their 65th reunion in Indianapolis. The ship was sunk on July 30, 1945, after delivering the first operational atomic bomb to the island of Tinnian. Of the 1,196 men aboard only 317 were pulled from the water after the sinking. During his speech, Williamson announced that the next commissioned Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) will be named the USS Indianapolis in their honor. (U.S. Navy photo by MC1 Burt Eichen/Released)
