Marines from Battalion Landing Team, 2nd Battalion, 1st Marines, Echo Company, attached to the 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit (Special Operations Capable), sit in the back of an Amphibious Assault Vehicle awaiting the AAV to transport them to a live-fire range on Sept. 20 as part of training during Exercise Bright Star. The exercise is designed to enhance the interoperability and cohesiveness of coalition forces through various training scenarios, to include amphibious and combined-arms operations. The six-week exercise affords U.S. service members the opportunity to build awareness and relationships with the host nation of Egypt and fellow coalition forces. The 13th MEU is currently on a Western Pacific deployment in support of the Global War on Terrorism. Official Marine Corps Photo by Cpl Chad H. Leddy (released)
