050920-M-0646L-002: 050920- 2nd Lieutenant Erik Sallee, third platoon commander for Battalion Landing Team, 2nd Battalion, 1st Marines, Echo Company, attached to the 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit (Special Operations Capable), gives his Marines a safety brief before going down range to a live fire assault during Exercise Bright Star, Sept. 18. The exercise is designed to enhance the interoperability and cohesiveness of coalition forces through various training scenarios, to include amphibious and combined-arms operations. The six-week exercise affords U.S. service members the opportunity to build awareness and relationships with the host nation of Egypt and fellow coalition forces.
