Col. Robert Clements, right, speaks with attendants of the 2013 Fan Festival for the 40th annual Bayou Classic on Nov. 30, 2013. The festival was held in the Champion Square and attracted thousands. The Marines who participated in the festival were able to interact with the local community and speak with them about the many benefits of military service and suggest the Marine Corps as a career option. For 39 years, the Bayou Classic has showcased the long-standing rivalry between the Southern University Jaguars and the Gambling State University Tigers. The United States Marine Corps has been a partner of the Bayou Classic for 13 consecutive years in celebration of the hard work, courage and commitment to excellence exhibited by its many participants.
