Lt. Gen Richard P. Mills, right, attended the 40th annual Bayou Classic and watched as student-athletes of Southern University and Grambling State University competed on the AstroTurf of the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans on Nov. 30, 2013. Mills and several other Marines who attended the game were able to speak with youth and influential individuals within the local African American community. The United States Marine Corps has been a partner of the Bayou Classic for 13 consecutive years in celebration of the hard work, courage and commitment to excellence exhibited by its many participants.
