KARACHI, Pakistan: Marine Chief Warrant Officer James Childress, the combat cargo officer aboard USS Cleveland (LPD-7), keeps a watchful eye on emergency earthquake relief supplies being offloaded by crane onto the pier Oct. 27. Childress, an Escondido, Calif. native, and his team of Sailors offloaded 280 tons of supplies to support the multinational relief effort, including 37 pieces of heavy machinery, food from France and tents, cots and blankets from Egypt. The United States is participating in a multi-national assistance and
support effort led by the Pakistani government to bring aid to the victims of the devastating earthquake that struck the region on Oct. 8.
