KARACHI, Pakistan: Boatswain's Mate Third Class Dale Mitchell supervises two deck seamen from USS Cleveland (LPD-7), as they unhook a container of construction supplies offloaded onto the pier Oct. 27, while a photographer from Associated Press Pakistan documents the action. The supplies were provided by Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB) 3, which is forward deployed to Bahrain, and will be used to assist earthquake victims in the northern part of the country. Mitchell, a native of Akron, Ohio, and his
shipmates on Cleveland offloaded 280 tons of supplies to support the multinational relief effort, including 37 pieces of heavy machinery, food from France and tents, cots and blankets from Egypt. The United States is participating in a multi-national assistance and
support effort led by the Pakistani government to bring aid to the victims of the devastating earthquake that struck the region on Oct. 8.
