Marines patrol through snow March 6 during a comprehensive field training event for Exercise Forest Light 14-2 at Sekiyama Training Area in Niigata prefecture, Japan. The three-day field training was the final test for the Marines and Japan Ground Self-Defense Force service members participating in the exercise. The training tested their cold-weather tactics and survival skills which they learned earlier in the training. The Marines are with Company I, 3rd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, currently assigned to 4th Marines, 3rd Marine Division, III Marine Expeditionary Force, under the unit deployment program.
