In celebration of a brand new, redesigned pier, the 81st Regional Support Command, the 377th Theater Sustainment Command and the 824th Transportation Company (Heavy Watercraft) held a ribbon cutting ceremony in Morehead City, N.C., on May 3. The previous pier had been destroyed in 2011 by Hurricane Irene. The mission of the 824th is to provide cargo trans-shipment service by safely and quickly loading, transporting and offloading personnel and almost any type of equipment that can fit onto the boat's deck. Here, Spc. Paul Buelin rings the boat's bell indicating that a commander, in this case, Maj. Gen. Geill Beck of the 81st RSC, has come aboard. Although the sign in front of him says USAV Matamoros, this U.S. Army Vessel is actually the Missionary Ridge.
