    81st Readiness Division

In celebration of a brand new, redesigned pier, the 81st Regional Support Command and the 824th Transportation Company (Heavy Watercraft) held a ribbon cutting ceremony in Morehead City, N.C., on May 3. The previous pier had been destroyed in 2011 by Hurricane Irene. The mission of the 824th is to provide cargo trans-shipment service by safely and quickly loading, transporting and offloading personnel and almost any type of equipment that can fit onto the boat's deck. This boat is the U.S. Army Vessel Missionary Ridge. USAVs are named after battles fought during the American Revolution, the War with Mexico and the American Civil War. Here, Sgt. 1st Class David Van Schaick gives a tour to community members.
