Spc. Molly Brown, a Gilpin County, Colorado native and small arms artillery repairer assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Company “Hammer,” 1st Brigade Combat Team “Ironhorse,” 1st Cavalry Division, plays with hula hoops during the Single Soldier’s Fest hosted by Fort Hood’s Better Opportunities for Single Soldiers, June 13 at Belton Lake Outdoor Recreation Area. Soldiers played with beach balls in the lake, participated in numerous games, rode a mechanical bull, splashed down water slides, listened to live music, and dodged water balloons at the event. Last year an estimated 10,000 single Soldiers attended the annual Single Soldier’s Fest, said Brown, the unit BOSS representative for 1st BCT. “This is a really good event just to have Soldiers (intermingle) with each other,” Brown added. ”It gets them friends … it also gives them a chance to blow off some steam.” (U.S. Army Photo by Spc.
