A group of Soldiers from the 1-189th Aviation Battalion dig themselves into the snow while waiting to switch classes during a cold weather survival training exercise held on top of McDonald Pass in January. After flying in on Blackhawks and Chinooks, Soldiers spent the day brushing up on winter survival skills such as digging snow caves, making fires, cold weather injury first-aid and using various signaling devices.
