Marines paddle into open water during a boat physical training session as part of a month-long coxswains course July 22 at White Beach Naval Facility, Okinawa, Japan. Every morning, the Marines execute boat PT and complete a variety of challenging tasks with the Combat Rubber Raiding Craft designed to toughen the mind and body, and strengthen the boat team’s unit cohesion. Some of the daily obstacles involved running with the boat, using the craft as a weight during team squats, and paddling in a race against other boat teams to objectives in the water. When the Marines graduate they will be certified to operate the small rubber craft and will add an amphibious capability to their unit. The Marines are with various units assigned to 3rd Marine Division, III Marine Expeditionary Force. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Lance Cpl. Matt Myers/Released)
