A route clearance patrol with the 326th Engineer Battalion, 1st Brigade Combat Team (Bastogne), 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), uses specialized vehicles to provide a sweep of the road prior to another convoy proceeding through the road way during an exercise at the premiere Joint Readiness Training Center (JRTC) at Fort Polk, La., Aug. 15, 2014. As part of a training scenario, Soldiers travel into a given objective to conduct multiple training events that are provided to stimulate U.S. Army Soldier skills. JRTC provides Soldiers the ability to test and validate their skills in an expeditionary and interdependent environment. The Air Assault Soldiers are not only honing their abilities to insert themselves into key locations through the use of air assault capabilities, but they are able to increase their level of confidence in working within a complex operating environment that involves the intermingling of conventional and irregular forces, criminals and refuges.
