Infantry Soldiers with the 1st Brigade Combat Team (Bastogne), 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), tactically move in complete black-out conditions, in the dark of the night, to their objective after they were inserted into an training area through the use of an air assault during a training exercise at the premiere Joint Readiness Training Center (JRTC) at Fort Polk, La., Aug. 15, 2014. As part of a training scenario, Soldiers travel into a given objective to conduct multiple training events that are provided to stimulate U.S. Army Soldier skills. JRTC provides Soldiers the ability to test and validate their skills in an expeditionary and interdependent environment. The Air Assault Soldiers are not only honing their abilities to insert themselves into key locations through the use of air assault capabilities, but they are able to increase their level of confidence in working within a complex operating environment that involves the intermingling of conventional and irregular forces, criminals and refuges.
