A Black Hawk helicopter (UH-60) with the 101st Combat Aviation Brigade (Wings of Destiny), 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), wait for Air Assault infantry Soldiers to board in complete black-out conditions, in the dark of the night, to move into and insert those Soldiers into an objective during a training exercise at the premiere Joint Readiness Training Center (JRTC) at Fort Polk, La., Aug. 15, 2014. Air Assault capability enhances a commanders ability to insert troops and equipment in a hasty manner into any location in the world. As part of a training scenario, Soldiers travel into a given objective to conduct multiple training events that are provided to stimulate U.S. Army Soldier skills. JRTC provides Soldiers the ability to test and validate their skills in an expeditionary and interdependent environment. The Air Assault Soldiers are not only honing their abilities to insert themselves into key locations through the use of air assault capabilities, but they are able to increase their level of confidence in working within a complex operating environment that involves the intermingling of conventional and irregular forces, criminals and refuges.
