An imagery analyst with California National Guard Counterdrug Task Force examines a box truck during a secondary check at the San Clemente Border Patrol Station. Using the large scale imagery system, Guardsmen from the task force are better able to identify abnormalities in a scanned vehicle and alert Border Patrol agents to perform a more precise search. Counterdrug personnel operate MVISs at checkpoints throughout Southern California. A Guardsman operating the MVIS software scans numerous vehicles each day and must quickly identify signs of potentially illegal or dangerous goods. The machines are highly mobile—service members can react to a call to change locations and be on the road within 15 minutes. National Guard personnel complete a two week, hands on training course on the proper operation and capabilities of the MVIS system. (U.S. Army National Guard Photo/ Sgt. 1st Class Benjamin M.
