World Vets Volunteer Veterinarian Eilidh Hawkins teams up with a young Filipino boy to perform a physical examination of his pet chicken at a veterinary civic action project in Samar June 23. Hawkins is working in the area with a team of military and volunteer veterinary specialists from the Military Sealift Command hospital ship USNS Mercy (T-AH-19) and conducted the project as part of Pacific Partnership 2012. Now in its seventh year, Pacific Partnership is an annual U.S. Pacific Fleet humanitarian and civic assistance mission that brings together U.S. military personnel, host and partner nations, non-government organizations and international agencies to build stronger relationships and develop disaster response capabilities throughout the Asia-Pacific region.
