Lt. Col. Gary McKay, Task Force 34 headquarters physician assistant from Pine Island, Minn., received a Meritorious Service Medal at an award ceremony on Joint Base Balad, Iraq on May 6. Awards were given by Lt. Col. Darryl Ducharme, Task Force 34 deputy commanding officer. The Meritorious Service Medal is given to those who have distinguished themselves by outstanding non-combat meritorious achievement in a designated combat theatre.
