Capt. Carlton Matson, Task Force 34 headquarters aviation operations officer from Rochester, Minn., received a Meritorious Service Medal at an award ceremony on Joint Base Balad, Iraq on May 6. Awards were given by Lt. Col. Darryl Ducharme, Task Force 34 deputy commanding officer. The Meritorious Service Medal is given to those who have distinguished themselves by outstanding non-combat meritorious achievement in a designated combat theater.
