Sgt. Timothy D. Brown shocks Cpl. Ramuel D. Brown Dec. 16 to demonstrate how the Taser works and its nonlethal capabilities. The Taser is a nonlethal weapon used to temporarily disable voluntary muscle control in the body. The Taser, along with oleoresin capsicum spray and batons, are used during riots to control crowds without causing damage to the body. Brown, from Hampton, Virginia, is a nonlethal weapons instructor with 3rd Law Enforcement Battalion, III Marine Expeditionary Force Headquarters Group, III MEF. Cpl. Brown, from Yonkers, New York, is a field radio operator with Fox Battery, 2nd Battalion, 11th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, currently attached to the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit.
