Lance Cpl. Gregory Trout, from Paragould, Arkansas, places a simulated improvised explosive device in order to cause mass casualties to the offense Dec. 10 during a town defense simulation at the Central Training Area. Marines with Company C, 3rd Law Enforcement Battalion defended the town in support for the Marine Expeditionary Unit to give them a simulated defense in an urbanized environment. The training prepared the Marines for combat scenarios, formulating plans of defense, and tested the leadership.
