Petty Officer 2nd Class Allen R. Dixon, Saginaw, Mich., native with USS Boxer (LHD 4), uses a sledgehammer on the housing stopper, which is the first of two clamps that are removed before the two 40,000-pound anchors can be lowered into the water. Each anchor is attached to a 155,155-pound chain, which normally takes less than a minute to bring the 44,450-ton ship to a halt after the anchor touches the bottom. The 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit and Boxer Amphibious Ready Group are currently on a deployment in support of regional and Maritime Security Operations.
