AMES, Iowa, (May 9, 2015) – Iowa State University Naval Reserve Officers' Training Corps (NROTC) Midshipman 1st Class Eliza Carrigan has tape removed from her ensign gold stripe by her grandfather James Carrigan, a U. S. Army Korean War veteran, during a commissioning ceremony in the Memorial Union on campus here, May 9. Carrigan was commissioned to ensign in the U.S. Navy and joined four other ISU midshipmen who were commissioned to U.S. Navy ensigns or Marine Corps second lieutenants.
