Brandon Smith, Air Force Research Laboratory aerospace engineer and Jonathan Boston, AFRL aeronautical engineer, both members of the team from Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, monitor their active shooter detection system from their base defense operations center as part of the 2015 Air Force Research Laboratory Commanders Challenge, June 18, at the Muscatatuck Urban Training Center, Butlerville, Ind. Their system allowed for real-time tracking of emergency responders allowing dispatchers to direct them where to go in the building using a real-time building map showing triggered alarms.
