Cpl. Anthony Schoenwolf, a communications technician with Marine Air Control Group 28, Marine Aircraft Group 40, Marine Expeditionary Brigade-Afghanistan, runs a fiber optic cable to the radar sensor pallet of the Army Navy/Transportable Navigational Aid Air Traffic Navigation, Integration and Coordination System. The ATNAVICS system is a highly mobile, self-contained, tactical surveillance radar and precision approach radar system that provides air traffic service at designated airfields and landing zones. The group received the system Sept. 7 and plans to implement it right away, which will allow them to reach more aircraft, identify all aircrafts, and allow aircraft to land and depart more safely.
