U.S. Marine David Bruce Spiker, Jr., a 1995 Warrensburg-Latham High School graduate, was promoted to the rank of gunnery sergeant, Oct. 1, at Camp Pendleton, Calif., where he is currently stationed. A native of Decatur, Ill., Spiker serves in the 1st Marine Division as a career planner. On being a Marine, Spiker enjoys "the camaraderie, competition to be the best and the opportunities to travel, but mostly knowing I'm making a difference the lives of the Marines he serves."
