ARABIAN GULF (Aug. 18, 2015) Deck Sailors have their blood pressure checked by a hospital corpsman in the hangar bay of Wasp-class amphibious assault ship USS Essex (LHD 2) during a replenishment at sea (RAS) with the Military Sealift Command underway replenishment oiler USNS Patuxent (T-AO 201). The Sailors are loading dry goods, frozen foods, fruits and vegetables in weather with a heat index of 130 degrees. Essex is the flagship of the Essex Amphibious Ready Group (ARG) and, with the embarked 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), is deployed in support of maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts in the U.S. 5th fleet area of operations.
