ARABIAN GULF (August 26, 2015) – Sonar Technician (Surface) 2nd Class Joseph Herrera, from Austin, Texas, leaves a message remembering a loved one lost to suicide at a Suicide Awareness event sponsored by the aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt’s (CVN 71) Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) team aboard TR. Theodore Roosevelt is deployed in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations supporting Operation Inherent Resolve, strike operations in Iraq and Syria as directed, maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts in the region.
