U.S. NAVAL BASE GUAM (Sept. 1, 2015) Ens. Frank Harshman, training officer onboard submarine tender USS Emory S. Land (AS 39) briefs the ship’s Damage Control Training Team (DCTT) before executing a fire drill. As DCTT leader, Harshman ensures the team members have sufficient knowledge of their duties and are informed about the logistical details to execute the drill. Harshman is a reservist filling a gapped billet created when the prior training officer was reassigned to support a specific repir department manning requirement. Emory S. Land is a forward deployed expeditionary submarine tender on a n extended deployment conducting coordinated tended moorings and afloat maintenance in the U.S. 5th and 7th Fleet areas of responsibility.
