A 167th aircrew member attempts to get a GPS satellite "fix" on his Combat Survivor Evader Locator (CSEL) radio. This radio is a very capable asset that is provided to the aircrew members for communication and rescue. The radio allows the aircrew member to be located immediately, communicate with rescue assets, and enables the aircrew member to navigate to and from specific points to afford them a faster opportunity for rescue. These skills are demonstrated and practiced during their survival, evasion, resistance and escape (SERE) training refresher course.
