A United States Air Force C-17 Galaxy airplane, viewed through thermal goggles, releases 40 pallets from its cargo hold above a drop zone near Forward Operating Base Geronimo Dec. 27 to resupply Marines of 1st Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment, with food, water and building materials. Aerial resupply drops like these are conducted about four nights each week and pallets are collected by 1/3's logisticians on the ground for distribution to the battalion's various positions in Nawa district.
