Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton delivers an address on the U.S. vision for Asia-Pacific multilateral engagement to an audience consisting of Japanese Foreign Minister Katsuya Okada, Hawaii Governor Linda Lingle, U.S. Pacific Command military leaders, University of Hawaii faculty and students while at the East-West Center in the Imin Center in Honolulu, Hawaii, Jan. 12. Clinton is conducting a trip through the western Pacific to strengthen ties with our partner nations, which will involve stops in Australia, New Zealand and Papua New Guinea and Hawaii was her first stop where she met with Japanese Foreign Minister Katsuya Okada to discuss the movement of Marine Corps Futenma Air Base, the expansion of the Japan - U.S. security alliance, the war in Afghanistan and the nucler programs in North Korea.
