Maj. Alma Boyles, a nurse with 182nd Medical Group from Peoria, Ill., participated in the Bataan Memorial Death March for the first time this year. Although it’s her first time, Boyles did the death march in honor of those who served in the past. “I know that American Soldiers went through the death march and we’re doing it in honor of them, those from the past and the ones before them,” said Boyles. “We’re all in the military and it really inspired us to do this in honor of all our brothers and sisters that died before us in any conflict, not just in Bataan.” Boyles and her group plan on making the death march a tradition and will be attending annually from now on. “We are very excited to be here and we are glad somebody put this together to remember those Soldiers that died,” said Boyles. “We are planning to make this an annual thing.” (U.S. Army photo by: Sgt.
