On his third year of ROTC at the University of Missouri, Cadet Patrick Kinsella, a native of St. Louis, leads the underclassmen through the Bataan Memorial Death March. Every year, cadets from the University of Missouri participate in the death march as an annual tradition. “This is my third year doing it,” said Kinsella. “This is a big tradition at our detachment to do it. So we had a lot of upperclassmen pushing us to do it then. Now I’m the upperclassman pushing them to do it.” Throughout the years, Kinsella’s confidence in doing the march built up. Now, he is certain on how well he will march this year. “I’m more confident now as compared to the first year I did it,” said Kinsella. “The hardest part at first was not knowing the course and then the second year I already knew the course so it was a little easier and then now I feel like I know the course like the back of my hand, so I’m very confident.” (U.S. Army photo by: Sgt.
