NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (Apr. 7, 2016)—Susan Ford Bales, ship’s sponsor of Pre-Commissioning Unit Gerald R. Ford (CVN 78), unveils a statue of her father and the ship’s namesake, Gerald R. Ford, during a dedication ceremony in the ship's hangar bay. Bales, sculptor J. Brett Grill, and representatives of Huntington Ingalls Industries Newport News Shipbuilding, where the ship is currently under construction attended the event.
