NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (Mar 31, 2016) -- Operations Specialist 1st class and Operations Specialist 2nd Class Joseph Valdo assigned to Pre-Commissioning Unit Gerald R. Ford (CVN 78) put sono buoys into the ship self defense system in the Combat Direction Center. This ship-wide General Quarters drill focused on damage control and emergency responses and is a significant step in certifying the crew as they train to fight and take delivery of the ship.
