FORT FISHER, N.C. – North Carolina Army National Guard Spc. Robert Tompkins, a medic with the 130th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade, inserts a nasopharyngeal airway device into Pfc. Luke Wilson’s nose during a combat lifesavers course here, June 14, as Spc. Alejandro Benevidas (middle back) observes. Wilson, a medic with the 130th MEB, volunteered to endure the pain of the insert, which is normally performed on unconscious patients, to help train fellow comrades on the technique. The combat lifesavers course teaches basic life-saving techniques to Soldiers for use on and off the battlefield. (Photo by Army National Guard Sgt.
