FORT FISHER, N.C. – In an assimilated field combat lifesaver course, Spc. Alejandro Benavides, of the 130th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade, shields a casualty during his National Guard annual training here, June 17, as incoming rounds fall near him and the victim. Benavides kept a cool and calm demeanor as screams of agony echo in the distance. Loud music is playing overhead as his train of thought is interrupted every few minutes during the exercise. Benevidas prevails in the end and is recognized as the highest scorer of the class. (Photo by Army National Guard Sgt. Ruth McClary, 130th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade Public Affairs)
