160721-N-NF288-046 SOUTH CHINA SEA (July 21, 2016) Seaman Samantha Tovar, from Houston, lays rope on the starboard boat deck to prevent tangles and knots when the rigid hull inflatable boat is lowered into the water during boat operations aboard the Navy’s only forward-deployed aircraft carrier, USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76). Tovar is assigned to deck department and participates in maintaining boat decks and RHIBs on board the ship. Ronald Reagan, the Carrier Strike Group Five (CSG 5) flagship, is on patrol in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of responsibility supporting security and stability in the Indo-Asia-Pacific region.
