160830-N-NF288-065 WATERS SOUTH OF JAPAN (Aug. 30, 2016) Aviation Boatswain’s Mate (Handling) 3rd Class (AW/SW) Sarah Atiyyat, from Edison, New Jersey, lifts a safety rope so Sailors carrying stretchers can pass underneath to restow stretchers on the flight deck following a mass-casualty drill aboard the Navy’s only forward-deployed aircraft carrier, USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76). The drill tested the readiness of the ship’s crew to respond to 50 participants with simulated injuries. Ronald Reagan provides a combat-ready force, which protects and defends the collective maritime interests of the U.S. and its allies and partners in the Indo-Asia-Pacific region.
