160913-N-GP548-006 PHILIPPINE SEA (Sept. 13, 2016) Crewmembers, from the “Golden Falcons” of Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron (HSC) 12, wait to board their MH-60S Sea Hawk helicopter as part of a live-fire sink exercise (SINKEX) during Valiant Shield 2016. Valiant Shield is a biennial, U.S. only, field-training exercise with a focus on integration of joint training among U.S. forces. This is the sixth exercise in the Valiant Shield series that began in 2006. HSC 12 is embarked aboard the Nimitz-Class aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76), which is on patrol as the flagship of Carrier Strike Group Five in the Philippine Sea supporting security and stability in the Indo-Asia-Pacific region.
